It looks as though we may finally be getting a more stat driven spectator mode in Overwatch.
As the title bounces comfortably around the top 5 most viewed games on Twitch right now, it really is only a matter of time before we see the system naturally progress into a more streamlined experience.
Jeff Kaplan, the game’s director spoke out about the changes during a recent Q&A on Twitch.
We want to work on more Spectator Mode features, in particular for eSports, we want to add a Spectator Mode that has a lot of statistics for the match so that broadcasters and observers can surface more to the viewers and I think make a really great experience for viewing competitive Overwatch.
Any changes will no doubt head to PC first, as has been the case with all patches since launch. The amount of custom games being streamed from console has quite a miniscule player base (and audience) so it remains to be seen if the features will remain PC focused.
